After kava is prepared, the South Pacific Islanders would gather for their ritualistic kava ceremony. Tribe members would circle up and drink this sacred tea while setting an intention, almost like a meditation, for what they needed to find internally or externally during the ceremony. Kava’s greatest benefit may be the ability to tap into the soul and allow someone to find the issues they need to work on. Everyone in the group would raise their shells and say “BULA!’ which the Fijian word for life, and drink as one.
